NMHS School-Parent Compact

Dear Parent/Guardian,
North Murray High School students participating in the Title I, Part A program, and their families, agree that this compact outline how the parents, the entire school staff, and the students will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement. The compact also describes how the school and parents will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve the state's high standards.


To understand how working together can benefit your child, it is first important to understand our district's and school's goals for student academic achievement.


Murray County District Goals:
• Each student will graduate from High School College and Career ready.
• Each school will maintain a 90% or better pass rate on all state required assessments.
Murray County District Strategies:
• Maintain a 95% or better student daily attendance rate.
• Expand 21st Century learning environments in all schools.
• Continue Commit to Graduate (C2G) activities at all school levels.
• Increase student engagement through:

  1. Differentiated activities.
  2. Rigorous activities to include higher-order questioning, text connections, vocabulary development and student tasks.
  3. Student use of technology.

North Murray High School Goals:
         English Department

  • 100% Students will meet or exceed the state average on the GA Milestones

 Math Department:

  • 100% Students will meet or exceed the state average on the GA Milestones

Social Studies Department:

  • 100% Students will meet or exceed the state average on the GA Milestones 

 Science Department:

  • 100% Students will meet or exceed the state average on the GA Milestones

CTAE Department:

  • 90% of students taking EOPA exams will pass

To help your child meet the district and school goals, the school, you, and your child will work together to:

Provide high quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment that enables the participating students to meet the state's student academic achievement standards by: 

Continuing to use PBIS strategies and incentives to encourage positive behavior & maintain good attendance.
Continuing to incorporate the Literacy & Writing standards from the Common Core in all classes.
Continuing Commit to Graduate (C2G) activities at every grade level.
Individualizing classroom instruction through the use of differentiation strategies.
Increasing student engagement through student use of technology, rigorous activities to include: higher-order questioning, text connections, vocabulary development and student performance tasks.


Hold parent-teacher conferences during which this compact will be discussed as it relates to the individual child's achievement.
• Parent-teacher conferences will be held at the request of the parent and on scheduled nights.
• The School-Parent Compact will be used as a tool and reference to discuss how individual classroom goals relate to and support the goals/strategies of the district and NMHS. It will also be used as a reference tool when reviewing how the parent and teacher can work together to help the student.


Provide parents with frequent reports on their children's progress.
• Progress reports are sent home on the following dates: November 7th, January 29th, March 29th, June 4th.
• Report cards are sent home 2 times this year: January 29th, June 4th.
Provide parents reasonable access to staff.
• Staff will be available to communicate with parents through email at any time convenient for the parent.
• Staff will be available to communicate with parents through phone calls or meetings during the teachers' assigned planning time and/or M-F @ 3:15-4:15.


Provide parents opportunities to volunteer and participate in their child's class and to observe classroom activities as follows:
• Parents can schedule a classroom visit through their child's individual teachers.
• As stated in the NMHS Parent Involvement Plan, parents are always welcome & encouraged to volunteer.

Parent Responsibilities:
I/We, as (a) parent(s), will:
• See that my child is on time and attends school regularly.
• Communicate with my child's teachers on a regular basis.
• Support the school in developing positive behaviors.
• Provide a home environment that encourages my child to learn.
• Make sure my child is getting plenty of rest.
Student Responsibilities:
• Attend school regularly and on time.
• Show respect for myself, my school, and other people.
• Believe that I can and will learn.
• Obey the school, classroom, and bus rules.
• Always try to do my best in my work and in my behavior.
• Work cooperatively with my classmates, teachers, and other school staff.
• Complete assignments and keep up with grades.
• Put forth my best effort.


Please review this School-Parent Compact with your child. This School-Parent Compact will be discussed with you throughout the year at different school-family events as we work together to help your child succeed in school.
