Aug-Sept 2016

Honors Geometry: We will exam the following concepts:

Unit 1: Focus on transformations of Geometric shapes applying the rigid motions of reflection, rotations and translation
Unit 2:Focus on Geometric proofs involving 2 column proofs applying critical Geometric theorems and using coordinate Geometry to prove congruence.
Unit 3: Right triangle Trigonometry focusing on using Trigonometric ratios to find unknown sides and angles.
Unit 4: In progress: Circle theorems on secants, tangent lines, chords and finding sector area and arc length.

The students complete a DW(Daily Work) assignment each day that provides a cumulative review of these concepts.
They take Flow Map notes which is a graphic schematic that organizes the problems into a logical sequence of steps to solve problems.
They also work on End of Course Georgia Milestones tasks that prepare them for the rigor and critical thinking skills that simulate the constructive response tasks on the Georgia Milestones and SAT.
