Mr. Joshua Bruner, a freshman at North Murray High School, was named the state winner of the FFA Quiz career development event (CDE) this past weekend down at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) in Tifton. We had more than 300 FFA members on hand to compete in state level CDEs on the ABAC campus. Each of these students, including Joshua Bruner, were there because they qualified by advancing through the Area level of competition.

On Saturday, Joshua, and the other 11 state FFA Quiz CDE finalists, took a 50 question multiple choice exam that covered FFA history and current events. The top three scores from the written exam advance to the finals round. In the Finals round, each finalist answered five questions orally in front of a panel of judges. When the scores were all tallied, Joshua Bruner had the highest overall score. Joshua was named the state winner and presented with a banner and medal. A good photo of Joshua with his awards is attached.

For any student to advance to, and win, a state CDE is a tremendous accomplishment. That accomplishment is the result of hours of instruction from a tremendous agricultural education teacher, and hours of work beyond class time. Mrs. McCracken is an outstanding agricultural education teacher and FFA advisor. Her students are always prepared and represent your school and community in a first-class manner. Joshua is a very bright young man who worked diligently to learn the knowledge necessary to excel in this CDE. I appreciate your support of Mrs. McCracken and students like Joshua Bruner.
